Dog Training College
Dog Training College
Please note Norwich Dog Training School is not the Dog Training College. Our goal is to help people train their own dogs – not to teach commercial dog trainers to train other people’s dogs
Please note we are not in any way connected with the Dog Training College.
While surprisingly, we were approached by a member of the dog training college for help with training their own dog (which we refused, as they were a member of a commercial training enterprise).
We would however stress that for the record, that we are in no way, and have never been associated with this now defunct college. My ambition has always been to help people train their own dogs – not to teach commercial dog trainers.
To this end, while we have been approached by people often telling ‘porkies’ as to their true aspirations, who have then surprisingly, after attending a few classes or lessons have set themselves up as ‘commercial’ dog trainers. This isn’t something we encourage, as learning to train dogs we believe is something acquired overtime, not a crash course. In fact, some of these individuals can even be seen in our ‘graduation gallery’ – but there are others as well….
While I have never been someone that yearns, and chases down competitions week after week. Since, that while I enjoy training, I don’t particularly relish competitions – neither do I have the time. But to just to ‘keep my eye in’ – I complete once in a while.
However, during my dog training career, spanning over 50 years – I have competed at the highest level of international working competition in the UK and overseas (France and Italy), besides competing in International Beauty shows and Security Competition. Juxtaposed alongside this I have been the head trainer at various training clubs in the Norwich region, as well as having run the obedience / working section for a National breed club. Judging; running; obedience competitions; working dog surveys and character tests. Even providing demonstrations at fetes and similar (including a council) endeavouring to promote responsible dog ownership. While not wishing to blow our own trumpet – Norwich Dog Training School has been best rated in Norwich for 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 – something which we are deeply proud of. Especially, as we are a small part-time dog training business that doesn’t pay for views or even reviews. Neither do we advertise on Facebook or any other portals – and yet our business (and dogs) have been featured in the Local and National Press, and covered on National Radio.
We would suggest that before parting with your hard-earned cash, when researching potential dog trainers you should (1) ask what have they done with their own dogs and (2) what have they achieved? As these days, far too many trainers, have done little more than attending a course (or few), and have set themselves up as trainers or behaviourist (even both). Remember, that neither of these occupations are unregulated in the UK.
Best Three Rated Dog Trainer (2023, 2024, 2025, 2026). Our dogs and services have been featured in our Local Press, Eastern Daily Press, Evening News and others. National Press, The Guardian check link (‘Demand has increased, without a doubt’: the shocking rise of personal protection dogs | Dogs | The Guardian) and National BBC Radio. A truly Stunning achievement for a part-time business. NDTS is here to help – we are your one stop shop for professional dog training, whether your dog has training, behavioural issues or if you have other training needs or aspirations.
